ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) is the process whereby the resolving of disputes among parties happens through processes like mediation and arbitration, with the goal of avoiding court action.
Mediation and arbitration differ in several ways. Mediation involves a neutral, independent third person helping the parties find an acceptable solution, but the parties still impose the terms of settlement themselves.
